Sadly Denis Blandford has died.

His funeral will be this Friday 9th March, 1.30pm at Slough Crematorium to be followed by refreshments at the Oxford Blue in Old Windsor.





I will do something to respect his memory with this space...

Over the past 30 years I have been creating cartoons for international companies, small businesses, charities and individuals. Employed by international companies, as well as freelancing. I am now exclusively a freelance cartoonist able to offer you a wealth of experience and humour.

Cartoons can be commissioned for publications, promotional (literature and merchandise), business processes, internet applications, celebratory gifts and they provide an effective, memorable way to educate people as well as entertain them.

Different ways of using cartoons:- front cover designs, integrated with text to enhance promotions in brochures, mail-shots and flyers. They are especially effective for training purposes in Health & Safety and interpersonal skills.

Strip cartoons can be single-tier or whole page comic strips to convey a variety of messages, covering business processes, storyboarding, development of new ideas and even recapturing past moments of glory!

Satirical cartoons can be effectively used to cover aspects of politics, law, and religion, and to comment about green issues or political correctness to make an immediate impact.

In today’s world, cartoons can just provide some levity to help redress the balance and help people to smile and have fun.


Caricatures are often produced in a more sensitive way than the typical, over exaggerated forms seen in newspapers. Most people do not want to be reminded of their prominent feature, and as most caricature commissions are celebrating a persons life, the caricature is more thoughtfully created.

Cartoons
Health & Safety campaigns for Corporate
A major company, needed to raise awareness of incident reporting, across several UK sites for their Health & Safety campaigns, but the subject lacked visual interest. As their processes were primarily ‘written’ documents, I recommended using humour and colour cartoons to balance the necessary guidelines and give it impact. This would also bring the audience into the display and allow them to comfortably read the guidelines. The characters were cheerfully drawn to help staff relate to each other.

Facilities Management brochures
Facilities Management brochures were requested, but the available photographs were not adequate to provide a consistent design look. I recommended the use of illustrations to create consistency in line and colour for the front covers of their five venues. All illustrations and design would also be created by me to ensure quality.
