An international Tablet Production Factory needed a way to encourage staff to participate in Quality Control measures. I had meetings with many admin and factory floor workers to discuss the effective use of cartoons, as a way of helping people engage in maintaining quality measurements required. They agreed that humorous and colourful cartoons would be more inviting to the workforce.
However, each section had its own requirements for measurement gathering and recording.
I embarked on a series of different display systems that used animated sections, magnetic boards and pieces, static posters with dry-wipe surfaces and ‘cut-out’ figures.
The main cartoon character was ‘Tablet Man’ who would provide consistency throughout the different sections of the Factory. These were drawn conventionally for approval, then drawn and rendered directly on computer.
Each display had humorous and colourful elements to brighten the workplace and each was designed and production managed by myself. In all, there were over 20 display systems produced and put into use around the Factory. These cartoon displays were used extensively throughout the Factory for at least 4 years and Quality Control continued improving.
