Caricatures of event speakers |
I was invited by Jon Davey to draw caricatures of the event speakers at his Business in Berkshire, Online Marketing Magic event. Each speaker was planned to talk for about ten minutes. My job was to 'capture' them during their presentation and provide small digital images to accompany their article.
The main challenge was hoping each speaker would stay still long enough to get a likeness. As time was of the essence, I used a brush pen to limit detail and focus on the placement of each line stroke. Having to draw from the lap, also meant that the originals would have to smaller - this also constrained detail but ensured that quality would not be sacrificed when scanned and reduced to 300 pixels for Jon's website. As is the nature of people, some are easier to draw than others. The artist needs to spend longer with the person to truly do them justice, especially to see them smile and capture those subliminal moments.
